Clay Pot Making Fun ... as seen on TV!

Throwing Pottery?

Mudslinger sessions include a chance to throw a pot on the potters wheel; introduction to hand-building ceramics, including coiled pot techniques; and where time allows help to build a project of your choosing, like a gargoyle or name plaque

Mudslingers

Fancy having a go at making a clay pot on the potters wheel? In addition to our usual pottery painting we're now offering you the chance to book in and make your very own earthenware ceramics models, pots and trinkets as well as throwing a pot on the potters wheel.

Perhaps you've always wanted to try making a clay pot? Maybe you've had a go and want to test the water before committing to a longer course or buying your own equipment? Or just looking to fill a fun afternoon with friends or family?

Get 2–6 people together and book a special clay pottery making session!

Please call or email to book your session. Pottery is ready in two weeks and can then be painted in the usual way (just like with our range of over 100 pre-made bisque pieces).

Clay Day

A Quick Pottery Taster Session

Clay days are your chance to come and throw a pot, booking essential. This is a short session with instruction as you throw and costs £15 each. You get about 30 minutes on the wheel with our potter and will have at least one pot made by the end. It's possible to take your, still wet and soft, clay pot away on the day but we normally keep the pottery to fire in the kiln. Pots are fired in approximately 2 weeks and ready to paint should you wish (for an extra fee) or just take home.

We do have some aprons, but you're recommended to wear an old top as you're highly likely to get splattered with clay! But only a little bit.

"Best of Friends" on the BBC

Barefoot Ceramics helped out TalentTV with their filming of Series 4, Episode 10 of Best of Friends. You may have noticed our trademark "orange footprint with white B" in the background as Rani chats to Callum (a contestant) about the challenge ... to make a 3 inch high clay pot on the potters wheel after only a few minutes of instruction. Quite a challenge.

If you're interested in a session (we promise you'll have a finished pot at the end!) checkout the Mudslinger and Clay Days pottery sessions on offer or just get in touch.

Oh did we forget to mention ... You Suck!

Barefoot's episode has been on the BBC iPlayer service but may no longer be available - our bit is 20 mins, 14secs into the original episode as aired in February 2008.

You can now book to use one of our pottery wheels. Barefoot have both a large traditional style potter's wheel and a smaller portable wheel that can be easily carried by an adult and transported in a standard sized car boot. So you can book to use a pottery wheel in our studio or to have a potter's wheel to take home!
