- We also have some templates for planning pottery designs (© Barefoot Ceramics 2005). Like this one (see link) for an "8 inch" plate; it shows the dimensions and colours available and can be used as a preparation worksheet.

This section is to give teaching and management grade staff information about how we can help provide ceramics based activities for school children.
We can provide cross curricular activities which take in elements from all sorts of subjects - such as art, history, design & technology and even maths. At the end of the session the class will have produced a stunning piece of ceramic art. From our experience parents are usually willing to subsidise such an activity - enabling you to work within your budgetry constraints. If you are interested in the sound of this, or just want more information please contact us.
We come to you and take a single class (most ages can be accommodated) for about 2 hours. The paints, bisque (i.e. ceramic items), brushes, palettes, water containers can all be provided by us but we ask you to provide the basic setting (table coverings, children's aprons, et cetera). After the session we take all the painted ceramics away to be glazed and fired. Items are normally returned the following week but can be produced quicker at an additional cost.
Amongst our staff at Barefoot we have a fully qualified primary teacher and combined experience of running children's activity clubs (predominantly Cubs and Scouts in mixed sex groups) spanning over 20 years. Barefoot Ceramics opened in 2003 and has since helped thousands of people to design their own pottery piece (and taught many hundreds to "throw" clay pots for the first time).
We can present samples for you to consider and can discuss particular curriculum requirements you may have. Some additional information is available in the Acrobat format (pdf) files linked here. For more information you can get in touch with us with the online contact form or using the contact information at the bottom of the page.
Have Fun! — Barefoot Ceramics.
